Output Feedback Control for Slosh-free Motion: ...

Sloshing liquid fuel induces additional forces and moments which affect the performance. Vehicle dynamics coupled with liquid fuel slosh dynamics represents a broder class of underactuated systems. This coupled nonlinear system has been considered for the development of output feedback control using sliding modes. A sliding mode control (SMC) is one of the robust control approaches which yields robust performance against model inaccuracies and uncertainties. Design of SMC includes design of the hyperplane to yield the desired closed-loop performance and the controller synthesis to confine the states on the designed hyperplane. This book addresses novel approaches of designing the hyperplane together with the synthesis of the appropriate control law for the slosh problem in continuous and discrete both. Proposed state based control algorithms are extended for output feedback control using sliding mode high gain observer. Discrete sliding mode observer and a fast output feedback techniques are also illustrated for the development of discrete output feedback control. Experimental validation of few of the algorithms is also presented.

Aesthetic in Temporal Forces and Electroacousti...
60,70 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This work draws on ideas of time and rhythm to embrace aesthetic issues in electroacoustic composition. Six original compositions exploring different forces of temporal organisation are produced and examined from the point of view of their temporal strategies and possible temporal meanings. The perceived characteristics of sound as recognisable and non-recognisable, as well as organisational forces such as linearity and non-linearity, derived from Kramer s (1988) theories of musical time are considered and discussed throughout. Durational proportions and ways in which we may apprehend musical discourse in retrospect (memory) are also of special relevance. A general mode of reception is employed in relation to the overall experience of non-pulse-based structures, and in relation specifically to the experience of environmental and everyday sounds. Other aesthetic issues emerge and are embraced in parallel, such as imaginary narrative, attributes of musical surrealism and the relationship between timbral structures and rhythmic forces.

Transaction Models for Web Accessibility
50,40 € *

The Web has become the primary medium for accessing information and for conducting many types of online transactions, including shopping, paying bills, making travel plans, etc. The primary mode of interaction over the Web is via graphical browsers designed for visual navigation. This seriously limits the access of people with impaired vision. Existing assistive technology such as screen readers for non-visual web access typically forces users with visual impairments into an inefficient, sequential mode of information access causing considerable information overload. This problem becomes even more prominent when conducting online transactions that often involve a number of steps spanning several pages. But usually one needs to browse only a small fragment of a page to perform a transactional step. We use this observation to develop an automata-based process model that delivers only the relevant page fragments at each transactional step, thereby reducing information overload on such narrow interaction bandwidths. We develop scalable techniques for the automated construction of such transaction models.
